PTT Recycling OÜ is a company established in 2016 for the management of construction waste and backfilling of the Väo quarry area.
We have been issued an environmental permit no. L.JÄ/331495 by the Environmental Board.

PTT Recycling OÜ is a company established in 2016 for the management of construction waste and backfilling of the Väo quarry area.
In accordance with the land lease agreement between the Land Board and Limestone Products Factory OÜ, the latter is engaged in the mining of construction limestone in the quarry until 16.04.2039.
Limestone Products Factory OÜ has concluded a partnership agreement with PTT Recycling OÜ on 11.06.2016, the purpose of which is the restoration and reuse of the quarry area located at Peterburi tee 94.
The backfilling of the quarry area by PTT Recycling OÜ in the restored area is carried out in accordance with the revised restoration project prepared by OÜ Engineering Bureau Steiger and approved by the Environmental Board (04 March 2020).
Construction waste reception has three directions:
- directing previously inspected and compliant permanent waste (soil, stones, etc.) to the quarry backfilling area;
- reception and sorting of construction and demolition waste and directing compliant mineral waste to the quarry backfilling area;
- directing material sorted from various construction mixed waste to reuse.
Quarry service roads are built from local limestone production waste and crushed stone. The quarry territory contains power lines, substations, other technical facilities (borehole-pumps, quarry excess water pump station, drainage ditches, settling basins) and buildings necessary for both limestone mining operations and restoration work of completed mining areas.
When restoring the quarry area, permanent waste is used as filling material. Soil excavated from construction sites (including gravel and clay soils, stones) approximately 75% of total volume and mineral waste generated from construction and demolition waste treatment are placed there.
Taking into account the forecasted flows of permanent waste in the coming years and the unsuitable subgrade soil generated from large-scale railway and road construction contracts starting immediately, the necessary scope of restoration work is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2039.
